🎒🧡 Thank you for joining us at our Back to School Fair!

Dear Neighbor,

On Saturday, my office held our annual Back to School Fair with State Senator Graciela Guzman and Northwest Center. We gathered over 1000 backpacks to give out to neighborhood families, as well as boxes of fresh produce from the Zakat Foundation for the first 150 families who joined us.

We were grateful that Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Commissioner Jessica Vasquez, Alderman Felix Cardona, and the 25th District Council were able to join us, as well as the offices of US Senator Tammy Duckworth, Alderwoman Ruth Cruz, Metropolitan Water Commissioner Marcelino Garcia, and State Treasurer Michael Frerichs.

There were nearly 50 community partners at the fair, sharing resources with attendees around healthcare, housing, education, immigration rights, and youth programs.

We had the Mobile Care Asthma Van providing support and the Chicago Department of Public HealthCare Van providing vaccines, plus dental hygiene kits from Humboldt Park Health.

There were free haircuts from local business, Epic Studio Barbers & Stylist, a gaming truck from the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety, free books from Open Books, some neat reptiles from the Brookfield Zoo, and a firetruck and ambulance to tour!

Thank you to DoorDash Impact and Tacotlan for keeping us fed, and to Senator Martwick’s office for keeping us cool with their famous snow cones!

Thank you to all our backpack and school supplies donors:

Life Quilt, ALSO Chicago, BUILD, Northwest Home Equity Assurance Program, Oak Street Health, CPS, Raise Your Hand, Comm'r Vasquez, Ald. Ruth Cruz, State Sen. Omar Aquino, State Rep.
