Four More of My Bills Passed Committee! 🏛️

Dear Neighbor,

I have some more legislative updates to share with you!

The end of the first week of April marked the deadline for passing new bills through House committees. I moved several significant pieces of legislation out of committee, and here's a brief summary of each of them:

HB 2161 protects employees from discrimination at work on the basis of their family responsibilities.

HB 3763 grants employees the right to inspect, copy, and receive personnel record documents from their employer.

HB 4410 establishes protections for sex workers against abuses by law enforcement, automatically seals related court records, and removes dehumanizing language from Illinois law.

HB 5534 allows for independent, appointed prosecutors to make charging decisions in cases of law enforcement officer-involved deaths of civilians.

Throughout this week, I'll be calling the bills in the House chamber for a vote. I'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of these bills, with the next steps with the Senate!

All my best,
Will
