FEMA Flooding Assistance 📢

Dear Neighbor,

Earlier this summer, a lot of our homes were impacted by the severe storms and flooding. Cook County was one of those areas hit particularly hard. In response, President Biden granted a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Illinois in August. This means there is potential for federal assistance and resources for residents to deal with the damage from storms that hit Cook County from June 29 to July 2.

This week’s newsletter will include information on several ways you can apply for FEMA Flooding Assistance.

First, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez is hosting a Flooding Assistance Info Session tonight, Monday, September 11. Join us at Kelvyn Park High School, 4343 W Wrightwood, from 6-7:30 pm to get more information on how you can apply for FEMA relief that may be available to you. Registration is strongly encouraged, and you can sign up here: bit.ly/FEMAInfoIL3

If you can’t make it this evening, there are FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers open throughout Cook County to help residents to engage with representatives on the disaster application process. The Disaster Recovery Centers in and around Chicago are at:

  • Washington Square Mall, 4851 W. North Ave., Chicago

  • Morton College, 3801 S. Central Ave., Cicero

  • Columbus Square Fieldhouse, 500 S. Central Ave., Chicago

  • Berwyn Grove Avenue parking garage, 3310 Grove Ave., Berwyn

  • Imani Village, 901 E. 95th St., Chicago

  • Garfield Community Service Center, 10 Kedzie Ave., Chicago

You can also apply for disaster assistance by calling 800-621-3362 or visiting disasterassistance.gov. Be sure to apply by the deadline Monday, October 16.

Take care,
Alyssa
