Dear Neighbor,

At the start of December, my office hosted a Job Fair at Kilbourn Park with Northwest side electeds and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. It was a great success, with nearly 50 employers, from government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector joining us. There were also community organizations offering interview coaching and resume assistance on the spot, and we were grateful that over 350 attendees came by looking for new opportunities.

This week’s newsletter is dedicated to spotlighting some of those employers and the open positions they’re currently offering. My office hopes to help connect our community with new opportunities and next steps in their career journeys.

Winter Clothing Drive

My office is accepting donations of new or gently used winter gear through Tuesday, December 16. Items we’re collecting include:

  • 🧥 Coats

  • 🥾 Boots

  • 🧣 Scarves

  • 🧤 Gloves and Mittens

  • 🧢 Hats

  • 👶 And new diapers!

You can drop off donations at any of the following locations with marked donation boxes:

Holiday Office Closure

My office will be closed for the holidays from Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, January 2 and will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026. Thank you, and happy holidays to you and yours!

West Chicago and Jefferson Appeal Events

Cook County Commissioner Jessica Vasquez is partnering with Board of Review Commissioners Cardenas and Steele to host multiple Board of Review appeal events at their office in Avondale. As a reminder, appeals will NOT change current tax bills but have the potential to change the assessed value of a property, which could lead to lower tax bills in the future. For each of these events, there will be 3 to 5 analysts assisting residents.

Free Farmers Market

Onward House is hosting a Free Farmers Market on Saturday, December 20 at 5413 W Diversey. The market is from 9:00am to 12:00pm or until produce lasts and is open to all community members regardless of zip code. 

Kelvyn Park Winter Schedule

Kelvyn Park will be reopening in the new year! Their winter programming runs from January 5 through March 15, and registration is now open. You can find more specific program details, registration dates, and more information here.
