📜🏛️ Four of my Bills Have Passed the House Floor!

Dear Neighbor,

As the legislative session carries on, I wanted to fill you in on some more recent updates. The deadline for bills to pass on the House Floor was in mid-April. And I’m happy to share that four of my bills were voted on and passed through this step! Here is a brief overview of each piece of legislation:

HB 1628: Tracks data on civil forfeiture to understand when police are seizing property

HB2545: Helps create supportive housing and independent living in communities with low affordability

HB2546: Improves the process for youthful offenders to be eligible for parole

HB 3616: Collects data on which communities in Illinois lack affordable housing for middle-class families

These bills will now make their way to the Senate. I'll keep you posted here, on how they progress. I’ll also be taking on some Senate bills as the House sponsor, so I’ll be sure to share updates around those as well.

Until then, please stay in touch, and all my best—

Will

Transfer of Death Instrument Info Session

Here to Stay, PalenqueLSNA and CARPLS are hosting an info session to learn about the process to complete a Transfer of Death Instrument (TODI). The TODI is a great tool for making sure your home is transferred to those you select to be your heir or heirs. Recording your wishes with Cook County will prevent your home from going to probate court. If your home goes into probate court it could take more than a year, forcing your loved ones to hire lawyers.

The info session in English will take place virtually on Monday May 12 at 7:00pm, and the info session in Spanish will take place virtually on Monday May 12 at 6:00pm. Please register here.
