Omar Aquino, and me on Tuesday, August 18 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Grace and Peace Church, 1856 N Leclaire Ave. We’ll gather to discuss the state budget, highlight key legislation passed during the spring session, and look ahead to what’s on the agenda for the upcoming fall veto session.

Working Family Office Hours
Dear Neighbor,
We know that our regular office hours, Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm can be challenging for some to visit us for assistance. We want our office to be as accessible as possible, so this summer we're offering Working Family Office Hours on the last Tuesday of July, August, and September. These extended hours are meant for individuals and families who need assistance navigating state agencies and resources but aren't able to stop by during the regular workday.
Stop by my district office at 3001 N Central Park Ave. in Avondale on July 28, August 25, and September 29 from 12 to 7 pm for help with state services like SNAP benefits, Unemployment, Medicaid, state licensure, transit benefits for seniors, DMV services, food pantry resources, and more. We will have snacks and refreshments to share!

Back to School Fair
Sen. Graciela Guzman and I are hosting our annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 15 with Northwest Center. Join us at Kelvyn Park, 4438 W Wrightwood Ave. from 10am to 1pm for free backpacks and school supplies, free haircuts for kids, healthcare services, community resources, and family activities. Please note that backpacks and school supplies will be given away on a first come, first serve basis, until we run out.

From July 13 through August 7, our offices are collecting NEW school supplies to fill backpacks to distribute to students at our Back to School Fair. We’re looking for NEW donations of:

Illinois Commerce Commission Public Forum
Join the Illinois Commerce Commission on Wednesday, July 15, from 7 to 9 pm at Roosevelt University, 430 S. Michigan Ave, 10th Floor Library, for a public forum concerning the proposed rate increase for gas service requested by Peoples Gas.
Chicago gas customers deserve a voice. Attend the state public forum, and tell regulators how another rate hike would impact you and your community. Learn more and RSVP here.
TODI Workshop
Northwest Center will be hosting a TODI Workshop on Thursday July 16 from 10 to 11am and a Legal Assistance Clinic on Thursday, July 23 from 1 to 4pm. Receive one-on-one legal assistance to complete a TODI. Both events will be at 5233 W Diversey.
Foreclosure Prevention
Are you behind on your mortgage or worried about foreclosure? Join Northwest Center for a free workshop to learn about your rights and options that may help you keep your home. Brenda Grauer from CARPLS Legal Aid will discuss the foreclosure process, loan modifications, repayment plans, and common foreclosure scams. Get reliable information, ask questions, and connect with resources that can help you retain your home. The workshop will be on Tuesday, July 14 from 10 to 11:30am at 5233 W Diversey.
