♥️🍛 We’re Hosting a Community Meal–Open to All!
Dear Neighbor,
In addition to recent changes to SNAP requirements, there continues to be great uncertainty on how federal budget cuts may impact Illinois and the public services our neighbors rely on. And grocery prices in Chicago have soared by double digits over the past year, placing additional strain on working families and seniors.
As we navigate the Governor’s state budget proposal to address further changes on the state level, my office knows food access remains an urgent concern in our communities, and we are committed to doing what we can in the district to support neighbors and connect them to helpful resources.
My office is partnering with the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety, Islamic Relief USA, State Sen. Omar Aquino, Alderwoman Ruth Cruz, and Metropolitan Family Services for a community meal. There’s no cost, no need to register to stop by and grab a free hot meal on Wednesday, March 11. From 3 to 5pm, we'll be at 3243 N Central Ave, the Metro Family Services parking lot at the border of Belmont Cragin and Portage Park.
Hope to see you then,
Will

Power to the People: Belmont Cragin
Please join the ACLU of Illinois and Onward Neighborhood House on Monday, March 23 from 6:30-8 PM in Belmont Cragin for a community town hall on what community organizations are doing in response to the federal abuse of power from the Trump administration and what role you can play in the fight ahead.
The program will feature updates on the legal, legislative, and community-based efforts to confront and challenge these policies here in Chicago and throughout Illinois. We will also discuss direct, pragmatic actions that each of us can take to protect civil rights and civil liberties in our own communities, as well as the state and federal level. And, you’ll have a chance to talk with others who share your concerns about Trump’s actions.
The town hall will be held at Onward Neighborhood House, 5413 W Diversey Ave. Please register here in advance, as space is limited.
