A: I’ve lived in Portage Park since I was born, so 57 years. City Newsstand started here in Portage Park as a corner newsstand in 1978 and has been a storefront since 1988.

Q: What do you want our community to know about City Newsstand?
A: There are three things I’d like people to know: 1. City Newsstand has the largest selection of magazines in the Midwest. 2. Print is NOT dead -- not even close. 3. City Newsstand is also a good place to get a great cup of coffee, a snack, and maybe use the WiFi or listen to some live music.

Q: What’s your favorite summer activity in Chicago?
A: Taking a magazine and a cup of something out to our sidewalk café.

Q: What positive attributes does City Newsstand bring to the community?
A: City Newsstand draws people to Six Corners from all over Chicagoland, people who know that City Newsstand is the only place they can find the magazine they’re looking for. City Newsstand’s owner, Joe Angelastri, co-founded the Six Corners Association and is very involved in the betterment of the Six Corners community.

Q: What's your favorite foreign newspaper or magazine?
A: It would be a three-way tie: Empire, BBC Science Focus, and Classic Rock presents Prog.
